My Two Year Old

Cameron turned two last month and I can't believe it. He two year appointment went fine. They said he was 34 1/2" tall (but when we went back a week later they said he was only 32 1/2", someone messed up so we are going with 33 1/2 inches) and weighed 27 lbs. 14 oz. She said he looked perfect. Then a week and a half later we were back at the doctors office with him coughing and wheezing. The doctor diagnosed him with asthma and said he has allergies. So he did his breathing treatments until he stopped wheezing for a couple of days and he has been on Zyrtec ever since. He seems to be doing well with the Zyrtec, thankfully.

I love my son dearly and I can't believe he is two, but he does his best to remind me most days. He has started having temper tantrums and throwing himself down on the floor. I just hope that he doesn't do this at school. He is also getting to the point where he wants to try and do everything himself, which is great that he wants to try, but there are still things that he can't do on his own. On the flip side there are now things he refuses to do on his own, like watch a movie or tv. He wants me to sit beside him while he watches and if I don't he will come and find me. I love that he wants me near him, I just wish I could get a couple of things done while he is being entertained. He has a new favorite movie as of last week, the Cars movie. He really only likes watching the race at the beginning. After he sees Lightning McQueen bounce off the other cars tires he gets up and finds his Lightning McQueen and starts bouncing him off the other cars.

He started preschool on Sept. 8th and has been enjoying it, I think. Today was actually the first day that he went in without crying. Last week he was crying when we walked in the door to the school, he calmed down when we were out of sight though. And today we walked in and he looked a little unsure, but went right to his teacher without crying. She said he got a little teared eyed and asked for me during the day, but she told him I would be back in a little while and he was fine. Ms. Kim, his teacher, says he actively participates in everything and of course that he loves going outside.

Updates

I realize that I have not posted in a long time, but here I am now.

Cameron is growing up so quickly, I can't believe that we now have an 18 month old. I remember when he was so little and just wanted to be held and now he is everywhere all day long.
He had is 18 month appointment a couple of weeks ago and the doctor said he was growing wonderfully. He is now 26 lbs and 6 oz. (at least at that time) and is 32 inches tall (but I don't think the nurse stretched him like they are supposed to because that is only an inch in 3 months and I can tell from his pants that he has grown more than an inch.) His iron levels are still down and have only moved up a point in the past 3 months, which has lead me to call the doctor and request that we try to figure out why his iron is low instead of just treating it. So we are waiting to hear back from her tomorrow.

Even with the low iron he is still extremely active. He is all around the house following me, pulling me where he wants me and constantly bringing me books to read to him. He is your typical boy, when we go outside I am constantly telling him not the throw the rocks and stay away from Daddy's tools. I know he is going to enjoy being outside more when the weather gets warmer. We are hoping to get a swing set for him soon. I know he will be going up and down the slide all day long.

Over the past couple of months we have had him evaluated for his lack of talking. They agreed that he does need help in that area and now we have a speech pathologist coming out to our house once a week. Our first appointment was yesterday and it went well. Cameron was playing shy at the beginning but warmed up to Ms. Kelly after a short time. We are first going to start teaching him sign language so he can communicate with us in some way and then we are going to work on getting sounds and words out of him. He uses the sign for "more" and just learned "help" yesterday and is already using it. Granted he has stopped using "more" and is just using "help" now, but it is still progress. We are hopeful that he is going to learn quickly since he seems to learn everything else quickly.

I will continue to post more frequently and I will get new pictures up soon, but for now I have to go.

Snow Outing

We got about 8 inches or more of snow last night and today, so we took Cameron out in it. He wanted to walk around like there wasn't any snow if his way. He walked around as best as he could, but we held onto him to keep him from falling down too much. He didn't seem to mind falling down in it though. He actually got mad when we brought him in. He wanted to continue to walking around in the snow.

August 2009 Favorite Pictures

He was frustrated, can you tell??

He looks so deep in thought, I wonder what he's thinking.

We were at Grandma's for dinner and afterwards we gave him a bath. We got him out of the tub and Mom and I were talking in the kitchen, we thought he was in the living room, but he slipped into the bathroom and climbed, without incident, into the bathtub. Apparently he wasn't done playing with the frogs.

Cameron's 1st Birthday

Cameron turned 1 on August 24th. He enjoyed his party. He did very well at his party, except he didn't like people singing to him he was reaching for me the while everyone was singing. He didn't dive into his cake like I thought he would he really didn't want to touch his piece of cake.

He did get some cake after some encouragement.

He enjoyed his presents, but of course got wrapped up in a couple of presents and didn't pay much attention to the others.
He has since enjoyed all of his presents especially his books. He spends all morning bringing me books to read and look at with him.

Squeaky Shoes

He really likes his new squeaky shoes, it's a little difficult for him to walk in though because he is not used to walking in shoes. That and he didn't have socks on.

He enjoyed jumping with his squeaky shoes on. I bet he would enjoy his johnny jump up now that there was something new to do in it.
